Been mulling over whether I should write something or not about this, as I get very angry and emotional about any kind of animal abuse, but especially when it involves one of our Big 5 in South Africa.
My blood is boiling right now. There was another attack over the weekend where 2 rhino were drugged with huge doses of morphine and then their horns where hacked out by panga’s. The one happened to be a pregnant female and she had to have an abortion due to the stress of the attack on her body. This just added fuel to the fire for me.
The worst part about all the attacks that have happened in South Africa, over 400 in 2011 alone, is that they are carried out by South African’s who are being paid with foreign money.
The fact that South Africans are doing the attacks astounds me and infuriates me even more. Yes you can argue that the economy this and unemplyment that but the fact of the matter is that this is an act of violence against our natural fauna. A protected species are being wiped out by greed.
This is not only an attack on our fauna, on our Big 5, on our animals but this should be seen and treated as an attack on our country by foreign people. The attackers that perform these deeds should be tried for treason as far as I am concerned. They are attributing to declining numbers of our rhino. One day we will have nothing. There are already 2 species of rhino that have become extinct.
The cowards in foreign countries, mostly in the far east, sit back and reap the benefits of raping our natural resources.
Maybe I should censor this post, but while I still can say what I want to say, I will use my voice and do so. I am a South African. It is my duty as a South African to protect my country, our flora, our fauna, our natural beauty and natural resources against extinction.
I may not take up arms, but I will use my voice as a weapon and say what needs to be said to get people to understand, to hear what I have to say, to get people together and become united. We cannot just sit back and read the newspaper articles about rhino attacks, we need to do something NOW, before it becomes too late.
So I call on the President of South Africa, I call on the Premiers of each province and I call on the mayors of each city to stand up, take their fingers out their butts and do something about this. Put politics aside, this is not a political war or a political point, it is about our country that is under attack.
DO SOMETHING NOW! SAVE OUR RHINO! SAVE OUR NATURAL RESOURCES!
How can you explain to your grandchildren that rhinos were made extinct yet you did nothing to stop it or try to prevent it from happening!
